Town gears up for Dick Whittington show

Pantomime fever is set to take over Market Weighton once again as schools, businesses, children, mums and dads get involved in the town’s new production.

Theatre group The Market Weighton Community Players will perform ‘Dick Whittington’ at The Market Weighton School at 7pm on 5 and 6 March and at 6pm on 7 March.

Directed by Bob Long, who has been the director of more than 20 pantomimes, the show is expected to attract sell-out crowds.

Tickets are on sale at The Post Office, on Market Weighton’s High Street, and The Paper Shop, on Market Place in the town. Once this comedic extravaganza is over and before the cast have time to recover, they start rehearsals for their next production, which is episodes of ‘Dad’s Army’. These will be performed at The Market Weighton Social Club on 7, 8 and 9 May to coincide with VE Day 70th anniversary celebrations in the town.
