A vacancy has opened up for a town councillor in Pocklington.
The town council is seeking a new member after Tiffany Swift decided to step down. A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if 10 electors of the town write to the chief executive of East Riding Council at County Hall, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 9BA by 21 October claiming an election. If the chief executive does not receive such a request, the town council will be informed that it may fill the vacancy by co-option, which means its members will elect a new councillor from those who have expressed an interest in joining the council.
