BUSINESSES in the Pocklington and Market Weighton areas have the chance to get their hard work recognised at a glittering awards ceremony.

Nominations for this year’s Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) are now officially open and tourism chiefs from organisers Visit Hull and East Yorkshire are appealing to local businesses to get onboard.

There are 12 awards for which businesses can nominate their staff, their organisation or a colleague.

There is also an additional award which is chosen by the VHEY Board and a number of new categories including ′Remarkable Fayre′ for the best food and drink producers, delis and farm shops.

′Remarkable Day Out′ recognises the favourite attraction in the region, including trails, walks, galleries, museums, stately homes, shopping centres, theatres and places of interest, while the ′Remarkable Tourism Event′ is to determine the very best festival or annual event for visitors, including free and paid for events.

Accommodation providers, conference venues, outstanding staff, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and new businesses are all encouraged to enter again for the variety of REYTA categories that remain from last year to reward the very best.

Customers are also able to enter their favourite establishments.

Many REYTA winners have enjoyed further awards success with an excellent number of Hull and East Yorkshire’s tourism businesses making the White Rose Award shortlist, winning their category and progressing to national level.

Previous REYTAs have attracted an overwhelming response from the region, with large numbers of applications.

The awards, which are now in their third year, have become recognised as the mark of quality in this region’s tourism industry.

They have become prized possessions for the businesses who have won them.

Janet Reuben, Chief Executive of Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, said: “These awards are a chance for this region’s tourism industry to celebrate and recognise the great people and organisations that make a superb contribution to Hull and East Yorkshire tourism.

“Awards have enormous potential to raise awareness of business successes and winners of the first two REYTAs reported an increase in profile and customers due to their awards achievement.”

REYTAs are open to businesses and people who work within Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire and contribute to the visitor economy.

Nomination forms are also available from Tourist Information Centres across the region.
