A SURGE in thefts from industrial estates has prompted police to put out a warning to business owners.
Police in Pocklington have reported a recent rise in the number of vehicles being stolen from Becklands in Market Weighton while skips have been targeted in Pocklington.
Sergeant Pete Rogers of Pocklington Police said: “It’s apparent that commercial premises are being targeted by people possibly coming from outside the area.
“Patrols have been fully briefed and are checking the locations at night, but we want people to be on the look out for unusual callers. They should take descriptions and registration numbers of anyone who is acting suspiciously, they could be sizing places up.
“We need the public’s help, especially those who work on the industrial estates, because chances are these people [who are stealing] are looking during the day.”
