The search is on for area’s talented young musicians

The Rotary Club of Pocklington and Market Weighton is calling on young musicians to take part in the Rotary Young Musician of the Year Contest.

Youngsters will get the chance to perform and demonstrate their skills to a panel of judges.

These judges are local musicians experienced in working with young performers.

This year’s local round takes place in the music room at Pocklington School on Friday 15 January 2016 starting at 6.30pm. The two winners from the contest will be selected to go forward to the Yorkshire District finals.

However, the local Rotary Club is providing three separate categories by ages; 11 to 14, 15 to 16 and 17 to 18. The winner of each category will receive a trophy and a voucher. There is no charge for entry to the competition, though spectators and supporters will be charged £2.

The contest is open to solo instrument or vocal performances only.
