Market Weighton Town Council could lose out on thousands of pounds in funding towards its precept requirement for the next financial year from East Riding Council.
For the year April 2013-March 2014, the town council received a substantial grant from East Riding Council to minimize the impact of a fall in the tax base in the town.
However, it has been informed by East Riding Council that it could receive no council tax support at all from the local authority for the year April 2014 - March 2015. As a result, it may be forced to increase the precept bill for local residents and/ or cut its services significantly.
