THERE’s no business like showbusiness according to the Mayor of Pocklington - with people being called upon to grace the Arts Centre stage.

Organised to coincide with the end of Councillor Martin Cooper’s year in office, Pocklington Presents wants people who can sing, dance, play an instrument, tell jokes or anything else that they feel could win them a £100 first prize.

Sponsored by local firm Bluesky Career Counselling, anyone over the age of 11 can put their names down for the talent show.

Coun Cooper said: “It’s a chance for local people to perform on the Arts Centre stage, and I’m sure there’s lots of good artists and talent that would love the opportunity.”

Held on 12 May, all money raised will go towards the Mayor’s chosen charities.

Anyone wanting to express an interest can contact Coun Martin Cooper on Martin@martincooper0@wanadoo.co.uk or by phoning the Arts Centre on (01759) 301547.
