Twinkle-toed youngsters from the local area are in a spin after enjoying success at dance competitions recently.
Students from community dance school, Starbrite Dancentre, in Shiptonthorpe, entered the Shining Stars Festival, in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, earlier this month and and bagged first prize in six categories, including modern jazz, tap, ballet, character, duet and trio and senior troupe.
They have also recently won trophies in the same categories at the Angel Dance Festival, in Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire,
Starbrite principal, Emma Bailey-Hague, said: “We’re over the moon.
“We’re extremely excited about the development of Starbrite and the direction our students seem to be heading at the moment.”
The students are also celebrating excellent results in exams marked by the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), with Starbrite achieving a 100% pass rate.
Starbrite is holding a charity Dance and Wiggle at its base in Shiptonthorpe on Friday 24 May at 10am and 10.45am and the day after at 9am.
