Arts Academy students donned their furs on one of the hottest days of the year recently for a production of CS Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at Pocklington’s Woldgate.

The cast of 5-16-year-olds took the audience of more than 120 to a land of ice and snow, white queens, woodland creatures, lions and fauns.

Families and friends were entertained with a stage show featuring 20 original songs.

The cast of the production are all members of the Arts Academy at Woldgate College, which is a theatre skills academy for young people in and around the Pocklington area.

Debbie Lightowler, administrator for the academy, said: “The children have worked so hard and it has been fantastic to see the level of commitment they have shown.

“The performance was a triumph and I am proud of every single one of our students,”

The Arts Academy is now recruiting for the new term in September. Email artsacademy@woldgate.eriding.net for an information pack.
