A FLEDGLING charity has enjoyed a successful introduction into the local area thanks to the public’s support and generosity.

The Kilnwick-based Mr Hoggle Doggle charity was launched in 2010 and expanded to cover the Market Weighton area in October 2011.

Formed by husband and wife team Dave and Clare Allan, the charity collects toys left at its drop-off points then distributes them to needy children across Hull, East Riding and York.

Latest figures show that the drop-off box at Market Weighton’s Tesco had a fantastic, 1,430 toys donated to it since its introduction in mid-October.

That is an average of 143 toys per week donated by Market Weighton shoppers.

Across the region, the charity collected 6,688 toys which it then delivered to children’s hospital wards, family support centres and other places of need across the region.

Mr Allan thanked everyone who donated toys and all those who gave up their time to help the charity.

Mr Hoggle Doggle is now looking for further funding to cover its projected costs for 2012. If anybody would like to help the charity continue its good work, contact Mr Allan at mail@hoggledoggle.org.uk or on 01377 270624.
