Hundreds of pounds have been donated by Pocklington and Market Weighton Round Table to local schools for them to add to their book collections.

The Round Table has used some of the funds it raised from last year’s Pocktoberfest event to give five schools £150 each to spend on books.

The schools that received a cash boost are Barmby Moor Primary, Pocklington Community Junior School, St Mary and St Joseph Primary in Pocklington, Warter Primary and Melbourne Primary.

The group has also donated £100 to Melbourne Brownies and Pocklington Guides.

Greg Frith, vice chairman of the Round Table, said: “We all have children in local schools and all wanted to support local schools.

“Each year we do something different.”

Pocktoberfest is the Round Table’s main charity event of the year, which it organises in partnership with Pocklington Arts Centre.

This year’s Pocktoberfest is being held on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October.
