Santa Claus took time out of his extremely busy schedule to drop by at a garden centre in the area and meet youngsters.

Father Christmas and some of his elves took up residence at his grotto at Langlands in Shiptonthorpe.

Each child received a present from St Nick to take home.

After his helicopter was grounded due to the fog, Santa arrived at Langlands on his sleigh, pulled by Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, with the assistance of Pocklington Lions Club.

Mel Sparke, assistant manager at Langlands, said: “It’s gone really well. We’ve had out first full weekend now. Santa was inundated with visitors.”

A small post box has been installed in the grotto at Langlands for children to post their letters to Santa.

Children can meet Santa at Langlands every weekend from now until 24 December from 11am to 4pm.
