Elvington Village Hall is set to become the latest venue to join the Cine Yorkshire rural cinema scheme.

Tomorrow the village hall opens its doors to local young film lovers and their families when it screens Disney’s fantastical adventure ‘Oz The Great and Powerful’.

Directed by Sam Raimi, the film imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character.

The film and state of the art cinema equipment are being supplied to the village through Cine Yorkshire, the rural cinema scheme for North and East Yorkshire.

Local organiser, Rosanne Jackson, said: “We heard about the Cine Yorkshire scheme and thought we’d give it a try. We’re really looking forward to bringing the big screen experience to Elvington Village Hall.”

The screening of Oz The Great and Powerful starts at 7.30pm.

Cine Yorkshire aims to bring a high quality digital cinema experience to communities across North and East Yorkshire who would otherwise have to travel long distances to see the latest film releases. Visit www.cineyorkshire.co.uk for more information.
