The Rotary Club of Pocklington and Market Weighton has presented a cheque of £400 towards a defibrillator for the KP club during their meeting this week.

Also contributing to the cost of this are the directors of the KP and members of the golf club.

The life-saving devices work by using a high-voltage to pass an electric current through the patient’s heart so it’s shocked into working normally again.

At the same meeting, members and guests of the Rotary Club were treated to an underwater experience with a presentation by Dr Richard Webster.

His amazing pictures taken off the coast of Indonesia showed colourful scenes of exotic species in wonderfully camouflaged surroundings.

He explained that between 10 and 15 metres below the surface, the waters are grey and murky because sunlight does not penetrate sufficiently; but with artificial lighting and cameras a whole new world emerges.
