Daring Pocklington Post reporter Daniel Willers will be facing his fear of heights when he takes flight on a zipwire from the top of Pocklington’s All Saints’ Church to raise funds for the grade I listed building.

Daniel will be taking on the challenge on 9 May during the town’s annual Flying Man Festival.

Residents are being invited to join Daniel and glide down the zipwire, or abseil down the forbidding All Saints’ tower, to raise funds for the church.

Daniel said: “I’m excited and a little apprehensive about it as I’m not great with heights, but it’s for a good cause so there is no backing out.

“I hope many residents join me or have a go at abseiling down the church and raise funds through sponsorship.

“If you can spare a few pounds and sponsor me, I would be very grateful.”

If you would like to have a go at the abseil or slide down the zipwire, call 01759 369888. Fundraising is optional.

To sponsor Daniel, call into Pocklington Rugby Club tomorrow (1 May) or call him on 01723 860177.

The festival is held in honour of intrepid showman Thomas Pelling, who died during a stunt in Pocklington in the 18th century.
