The Frog Racing night at Melbourne Village Hall raised more than 1,000 for the bicentenary appeal.

Brightly painted ‘frogs’ raced at Melbourne Village Hall recently to raise just over £1,000 towards the Pocklington Canal Amenity Society’s Bicentenary Restoration Appeal.

The Society hopes to restore the canal to the Bielby Arm.

The Society would like to thank the following businesses, Johnson Haulage of Seaton Ross; Triffitt Nurseries of Thornton; Post Haste Print of Pocklington; Slater Engineering of Full Sutton and Biz-ed Projects of Wilberfoss, who each sponsored races which were hotly contested.

The next event to raise funds will be at Canal Head in May.
