A project which has benefitted the community in and around Market Weighton for more than three years is set to come to an end this month.

The initiative, run by The Life Centre, on Market Weighton’s High Street, will finish on 31 October and residents are being asked to share their views on the project for a final project report and make suggestions about what is needed next.

The project, named ‘The Heart of Community Living’, has been backed by £340,000 of funding from the Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities Fund since it began in 2011 and has provided a range of projects and activities to support the needs of the community. These activities include a food bank, computer classes for older adults, Job Club support for the unemployed, parents and toddlers group, a youth club, art therapy session for able bodied adults and those with special needs and much more.
