Pre-festival event in Pock

A MULTI-award winning folk singer and guitarist is among the performers lined-up for a pre-Beverley Folk Festival event at Pocklington Arts Centre on Sunday 17 February.

The talented Martin Simpson has been nominated for an astounding 29 awards in 11 years at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, more than any other artist. He was nominated 11 times for Musician of the Year, which he has won twice.

He will be the headline act on the bill which will also feature bluegrass trio, The Jaywalkers, finalists for the BBC Young Folk Award in 2009.

Finishing off the line-up is the popular guitar duo Farino, from Hull, who specialise in fast and frentic rhythms, fusing latin, jazz and rock styles.

Tickets for the Arts Centre event, starting at 7pm, are £16 and £12. To buy tickets call the venue’s box office on 01759 301547 or visit www.pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk/booking.
