MEMBERS of the community came together last Friday to support a charity golf day held in the memory of a Pocklington man who died in a tragic boating accident.

Organised by Pocklington Lions Club, the event, at Allerthorpe Park Golf Club, helped raise over £2,000 for Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance.

The emergency service rescued former Lions Club presidents Ian Steel and Neville Payne after their boat overturned while fishing on the River Trent in Nottinghamshire in January this year. However, Ian sadly died at Lincolnshire County Hospital while Neville survived.
