MAYORS and council chiefs from the East Riding descended on Pocklington for the town council’s civic service.
About 50 civic dignitaries, which included the chairman of East Riding Council, Councillor Kay West, attended the event which started with a civic procession from Pocklington Arts Centre to Pocklington Christian Fellowship Church, where pastor Alan Spademan led the service.
A collection was held by the church and half of the money that was contributed has been donated to the Pocklington Mayor’s chosen charity, the Wolds Wonders theatre group.
Mayor Graham Perry said: “The service was thoroughly enjoyed.”
After the service, the group returned to the Arts Centre for a buffet lunch.
