Players gather in Pocklington to play the acoustic blues

Blues enthusiasts from across the country descended upon Pocklington at the weekend as the Arts Centre held its popular annual Acoustic Blues Weekend.

The event, which has been running every year since 2004, attracted 35 keen musicians this time round, all eager to improve their skills.

Players travelled from as far away as the Isle of Man, Aberdeen, Dartmouth and London for the event and expert tuition was provided by Michael Messer and Ed Genis.

As well as teaching workshops, the tutors played a sold out public performance and participants also got to jam together.

James Duffy, assistant manager at Pocklington Arts Centre, said: “There was a really fantastic atmosphere the whole weekend, it’s always an event that everybody looks forward to.

“Everybody stays locally and eats in local restaurants so it’s really good for the local economy too.

“The event organisers have already booked the Arts Centre again next year and we’re looking forward to hosting it again.”
