A plaque has been unveiled at the visitors centre at Full Sutton Prison to commemorate the work of a long-serving member of staff at the prison, who died last year.

Sarah Peel worked at the centre for more than 16 years. For her last 10 years she was an operational support grade. Her duties involved providing support to people who visited prisoners. A plaque in memory of Sarah was unveiled at the centre by the Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding, Susan Cunliffe-Lister. Her colleagues and family members attended the unveiling. Neil Cowans, head of residence at the prison, said: “She was very well though of and well respected.”
