Foggathorpe Parish Council has signed a 25-year lease to take control of a meadow in the village from East Riding Council.
The meadow, on Station Road, will be a community asset to the Foggathorpe parish.
It will be worked on by a willing band of volunteers, who will add a barbecue area, two picnic benches and a Christmas tree, all funded by a grant from the local authority.
There will also be community allotments, a wet area, an orchard, wild area and a play area for children. In time there will be a shed on the land. There are plans to eventually link the meadow to the nearby Rail Trail.
A celebration evening will be held on 2 June at 7pm at the meadow.
