Two writing enthusiasts are running courses that explore writing skills in some of the classic gothic greats such as Frankenstein and Dracula, to inspire would-be gothic writers to put pen to paper.

Ali Cargill, from Millington, and Deb Henderson, from Hotham, are holding ‘Thoughttree Residential Writing Courses’, with their next workshop taking place next Tuesday to Thursday at Gisborough Hall Hotel, Guisborough.

The pair have been inspired by their passion for all things gothic in literature.

Ali said: “Gothic writing is all about thrilling your reader, at its best, it can be scary, sensational even.

“Where better to start than by exploring the skills of some of those great gothic writers we all know and love.”

Deb and Ali held their first gothic writing workshop at the Cave Castle Hotel in South Cave.
