Celebrations have taken place at a nursery in Market Weighton to mark its 10th birthday, which was attended by children past and present who are attending or have attended the nursery.

Blue Sky Day Nursery, on Becklands Park, York Road, held an open day for families, featuring a bouncy castle, games, coconut shy, raffle, tombola and much more. Businesses in the area donated raffle prizes for the event.

At the start of the family fun day, a ribbon was cut by business owner Vivienne Pooleman, the longest serving members of staff - nursery cook Sue Cayton and nursery manager Beverley McAllister - plus four children who attended the nursery when it first opened - Jack Kendrick, Jaygo Beasty, Joshua Watkinson and Penni Wilson. The event raised more than £300 for the Cash for Kids charity. Business manager, Jo Watson, said: “It was the best open day we have had, we hold one every year.” She added: “A big thank you to all the team past and present that have helped make the nursery so fantastic.”
