The team from Pocklington’s new community radio station will be out and about this month to meet potential listeners and encourage people to become involved in the exciting new venture.
West Wolds Radio was granted a licence to broadcast from the regulator, Ofcom, at Easter and station directors have been working on launch plans, including the unveiling of a brand identity.
The station will daily broadcast on FM, online and via smartphones from studios in Pocklington to an area which includes surrounding villages. They are keen to make sure local people feel involved.
Station manager Stuart Cocker said: “We will be staffed by volunteers so need to recruit enthusiastic people. We’ll be taking our information roadshow to Barmby Moor Feast on 19 July followed by the Summer Fete on 26 July at West Green. We hope residents will come and tell us what sort of programming they would like and what we should cover.”
