A new conservation group in Pocklington is seeking new members.
The aim of Friends of Pocklington Green Spaces is to carry out conservation work in and around the Pocklington area to improve natural habitats for wildlife and humans.
The group started as part of the Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to which it is still affiliated. Projects already carried out include clearing undergrowth and creating wildlife habitats in Primrose Wood, restoring a footpath on West Green, renewing the walkway around the lake at Kilnwick Percy Hall and gardening at Burnby Hall Gardens.
The group meets once a week for a few hours and members come along as and when they can. There are no experts, just willing volunteers who are keen to help out and enjoy what they are doing. Tools can be provided, together with any simple training needed.
Chairman Phil Wilson said: “It’s a great way to make new friends and do your bit for the local environment.”
New members will be most welcome. To get in touch, or to find out more about the group’s work, call secretary Pat on 07733 053276 or Phil on 07799 853524 or email email@example.com.
