Museum receives tourism award

CELEBRATIONS are taking place at the Yorkshire Air Museum which has been voted the best visitor attraction in the UK by a leading tourism industry magazine.

The museum has been recognised by readers of Going Places magazine for its friendliness and welcome, cleanliness, quality and content.

It is the second year the museum has been voted best visitor attraction by the magazine, to the delight of museum director Ian Reed.

He said: “I am very pleased that the enormous efforts of our staff and volunteers, particularly under these difficult economic times, has been recognised once again by the visitors we wish to delight.”

Ken Darville-Smith, of Going Places, said: “It is truly exceptional for an attraction to win consecutively, which the Yorkshire Air Museum has just done, having won the same award in the 2010/11 season.

“The Museum is clearly winning the hearts of its visitors and our congratulations go to them for this tremendous achievement.”
