East Yorkshire MP Sir Greg Knight has joined forces with other MP’s to press for better mobile coverage across the region.

Sir Greg has teamed up with Andrew Percy, MP Brigg and Goole, Martin Vickers, MP for Cleethorpes and Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart. In the debate at Westminster Sir Greg Knight said: “Only about 45% of households having access to 3G coverage at home and, on top of that, those are the very households that do not get superfast broadband, so we are dealing with people who are geographically isolated and also, currently, digitally isolated.”

He added: “The Government has secured a deal with the networks which will see them invest around £5bn. This should expand mobile coverage to 99% of the local area by 2017. This is great news and we will now monitor the mobile networks to make sure they make this a reality and fix the problem spots that exist.”
