Motorcyclist named following fatal collision near Selby as police enquiries continue

Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a motorcyclist in North Duffield and release his name.

A collision occurred just before 6.30pm on Thursday 8 August 2013, at the junction of Main Street and the A163, and involved a green Kawasaki motorcycle, which was heading from the A19 towards Market Weighton and a blue BMW 520I, heading in the opposite direction.

The man riding the motorcycle was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been named as Darrell Mark Wood, who was aged 48 and from Breighton, near Selby.

Police enquiries have shown that there was a grey mini bus, similar in size to a Vauxhall Vivaro, and a tractor on the A163, near to the Double 6 garage. It is likely that the drivers of these vehicles will have seen the motorcycles prior to the collision. they are asked to come forward.

Traffic Constable Paul Stamp, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “If you were the driver of either the minibus or tractor in the area at the time of the collision, I urge you to come forward straight away as you may have vital information that could progress my investigation.”
