East Riding councillors are to meet next week to hear from chief fire officers about how their proposals in their current public consultation may affect residents.

A specially-convened meeting of East Riding Council’s safer and stronger communities’ overview and scrutiny sub-committee will take place on Friday (29 January). Humberside Fire and Rescue Service needs to make cuts to save £2.1 million.

In order to achieve the required savings, the service is consulting with the public again on a range of options which include, removing one fire engine from Market Weighton or Brough.
