A COLLECTION of work by artist John McNeil has gone on display at the Pocklington Arts Centre.

The exhibition started on Tuesday and will run until 10 November.

John trained as an architect and has always enjoyed drawing buildings and landscapes.

His exhibition is split into two parts. On the lower level of the gallery is a retrospective collection of drawings, sketches, watercolours and oil paintings.

The upper level includes his more recent work, some of which explore new techniques and abstraction, with subjects in Italy, Scotland and Yorkshire

Helen Steele, visual arts officer at the Arts Centre, said: “John’s use of colour combined with his understanding of architectural form makes this a very exciting exhibition.”

Entry to the exhibition is free.
