Kind-hearted customers of McDonald’s in Shiptonthorpe raised £3,151 for Ronald McDonald House Charities through collection boxes at the counter and at the drive-thru lane.

A lot of customers place their change in the collection boxes and the total raised was £500 more than in 2014.

Ronald McDonald House Charities provides free home away from home accommodation for families with children in hospital. The houses also offer comfort, support and a safe environment.

Mike O’Reilly, owner of the Shiptonthorpe McDonald’s restaurant, said: “We’re really proud that our customers who have visited our restaurant have been so generous.

“The charity will use the money to provide accommodation for a family near a specialist children’s hospital in the UK.”
