Building work on Market Weighton’s new £3.5 million health centre finally got underway this week.
The site has proved controversial since the plans first came to light last year, with some local residents unhappy about the use of Northgate Vale as the centre’s access road.
The plans were approved in June last year, despite protestors submitting a 230 signature petition to East Riding of Yorkshire council, opposing the application.
However, one of the developers involved, Lovel Development, moved last month to ease concerns over the Northgate Vale access, saying it plans to close the road to health centre traffic excluding emergency vehicles and pedestrians.
