The new-look farmers’ market in Market Weighton was cancelled last Saturday because of strong winds.

The stalls are put up from about 4pm last Friday but the covers were not put on due to the strong winds. A-boards were put up to warn pedestrians going through that they did so at their own risk as there were temporary structures up. The winds were still too strong on Saturday morning to put the covers on and the snow also started. Market managers Blooms A1 Events decided to call the event off as it considered it “too risky” to public safety. The next farmers’ market is scheduled for 19 December.
