The 73-year-old man who fell ill at the wheel and died following a crash in Pocklington earlier this week has been named Peter McMillan from Huntington in York.

He was driving along Cemetery Lane, Pocklington at 2.19pm on Monday in his silver Ford Mondeo when instead of stopping at the give way line at the T junction with West Green, continued straight across the carriageway and collided with a cast iron fence, outside Pocklington School.

An air ambulance was called and he was air lifted to York Hospital, where he sadly died.

Officers investigating the collision are still appealing for witnesses to the collision. Anyone with information should call Humberside Police on 101, quoting log number 340 of 09/05/2016.
