MAJOR roadworks will see a number of temporary road closures and diversions in the Pocklington area this month and into February.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council will carry out major resurfacing works in Loaningdale, Burnby, from Monday, 23 January for three weeks, Yapham Grange, Yapham, from Monday, 6 February for two weeks, and Feeofee Common Lane, Barmby Moor, from 13 February for three weeks.
Residents in these areas will receive letters from the council a week before works are due to start, but are assured that access will be maintained at all times for residents, the emergency services and pedestrians.
Diversion routes have been put in place for all three sites.
Realignment work will also take place at The Balk/A1079 junction, from Monday, 9 January.
The kerb line is being altered to provide a safer alignment for vehicles accessing the A1079 and new signs are being erected.
In order to carry out these works safely, The Balk will be closed to southbound traffic at the junction. Access will be allowed as far as The Yorkway Public House only, but not onto the A1079.
Right and left turn access from the A1079 onto The Balk northbound will not be affected.
This closure will last for five days and will be removed on Friday, 13 January by 5pm.
Other works may need to be completed outside of this period, but not under a road closure.
Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The council regrets that some minor disruption is inevitable during works of this nature, but would stress that these works are essential in ensuring the safety of motorists - in terms of The Balk works, and that the road surface is in the best possible condition long term for the three locations in and around Pocklington.”
