Major resurfacing work gets underway

Major resurfacing work has begun on a section of the A1079 near Market Weighton as part of a £2 million council road improvement scheme.

The section at Arras Hill, is one of a number of sites undergoing work as around 650,000 metres of highway are resurfaced between now and August in the East Riding.

Coun Chris Matthews, cabinet portfolio holder for infrastructure, highways and emergency planning at East Riding Council, said: “Ensuring the roads and infrastructure of the East Riding, as a whole, is in the best possible order long term is a top priority for the council.”
