Maisey triumphs at Kiplingcotes Derby - England's oldest horse race WATCH THE VIDEO

HUNDREDS of people turned out for the Kiplingcotes Derby today which attracted 19 entrants - the highest number since 1992.

First place was taken by John Thirsk who thundered home on Maisey for the second year running, pipping Liz Stubbins on Charlie to the post.

This was the third time that Mr Thirsk, a joiner from Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, had taken part in the race and he said he was delighted at taking the top spot for the second consecutive year.
