A troupe of maasai warriors will be bringing a taste of Africa to Market Weighton this month.
The Osiligi Maasai Warrior Troupe choir will be performing at All Saints’ Church as part of their UK tour. It will be the group’s first performance in the town.
The tours help the members of the troupe raise money for their families and their community, which is situated some 30 miles south of Nairobi in Kenya.
Reverend David Everett, vicar of All Saints’ Church, said: “It’s a coup for the church, we’re pleased to have them.
“They do a tour every year and do a couple of performances for churches. It raises money for the church and the maasai troupe. I’m looking forward to it.
“It’s good for people here as well. It is very unusual and not something people have seen before.”
Performances by the troupe tell the story of their lives, are fully narrated and audience participation is part of the show.
The show on 31 October starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Market Weighton’s All Saints’ Church or by calling 01430 872808. Alternatively, visit osiligi.ticketsource.co.uk.
Tickets are £10 for adults, £8 for concessions and £5 for children.
