The past residents of Pocklington have changed the route of Pocklington Beck through the town over time to suit their need for growth and prosperity.

They have dammed it, they have moved it and have buried and covered it.

The beck was the lifeblood of the town and used its water for its early industries of corn milling, tanning, flax milling and the brewing of beer.
