Spring is definitely here, although some days it still feels like winter it generally is about the time to get out the sunglasses and pack away the winter coats.

James completed the London Marathon despite getting injured on the way round and it being the hottest day of the year so far on that day. Well done James!

I can’t quite believe that it is May already - as they say time flies quicker as you get older – if that’s right I must be ancient.

Since my last article we have had a Town Team meeting and the plans for Market Weighton’s Giant Community Day on Sunday 13 July are well on their way, we are hoping once again for a celebrity to join us and we have organised most of the attractions, the most popular ones from last year plus some new exciting ones. I will be able to confirm more in my next article.

Read Lionel’s full column in this Thursday’s Pocklington Post (8 May).
