Two 4x4s stolen from farms

POLICE are warning residents in rural communities to be vigilant after two 4X4s were stolen in the local area this week.

Overnight on Tuesday, thieves made off with a silver Nissan Navarra pickup truck from a farm in Bugthorpe, after taking keys from a workshop.

On Wednesday afternoon, a blue Range Rover was stolen from a farm in Aughton.

Sergeant Pete Rogers, of the Pocklington and Wolds Weighton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Patrols are checking rural locations overnight. It is possible that offenders are coming into the area during the day to identify possible sites for burglaries.”

“We’re asking everyone in our rural communities to be vigilant. Farm premises are being targeted.”

Residents are urged to make sure vehicles are secured and to report any suspicious visitors day or night to Humberside Police on 101, or 999 if there is a crime in progress.
