Taking the lead for Bielby dog charity
Animal lovers are being encouraged by a Bielby charity to take the lead in looking after their trainee hearing dogs in the evening and at weekends.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which has a centre in the village, want people to act as bed and breakfast socialisers when dogs need to put their paws up at the end of a hard day.
A key part of the role entails providing dogs with a stable home environment in order to continue their socialisation and training that will be of vital importance when they go to live with their deaf recipient.
B&B socialisers will be provided with all the training and equipment they need and the pick-up and collection times from the centre tend to fit in well with work commutes or school times.
The centre would like to find people who can home a trainee dog for the length of their training, usually about 4 months, whilst staff would give advice on exercise, feeding and training.
If you are interested in becoming a bed and breakfast socialiser call Abby Ramsden on 01759 322299 and an information pack and initial criteria form will be sent to you.
