Summer show attracts people of all ages

People of all ages flocked to the a Summer Show held by the Market Weighton branch of the Royal British Legion to showcase their produce and creative skills.

The show, at Market Weighton Social Club, on Southgate, featured all the usual cake and vegetable categories, plus children’s art, writing and short story categories, along with a cooking section.

More than 700 entries were submitted for the art, writing and short story categories by pupils from local schools, including The Market Weighton School, Market Weighton Infant School and Mount Pleasant Junior School, Holme-on-Spalding Moor Primary and Newbald Primary.

One of the event’s organisers, Joe Murray, said: “It was a fun day, the event was successful.

“Thank you to the people that helped make the event a success.”

Produce was auctioned off at the end of the event and this, together with funds from businesses who advertised in a brochure created by the Legion’s Market Weighton branch. raised about £1,500 for the Legion.
