SUMMER weather was out for the crowds who attended a beer festival which raised £5000 for a village’s sports facilities.

Kilham Beer Festival, held on the playing field in Kilham, saw around 800 people attend over the weekend to try local beers and listen to music performed by local bands.

The festival, which ran from Friday September 7 until Sunday September 9, raised around £5000 for the Kilham Playing Field, a sports and recreation facility in the village run by the Kilham Playing Field Association.

Daffyd Baker who organised the festival along with Steve Greaves and a small committee, said: “It was brilliant, absolutely fantastic we couldn’t have hoped for anything better.”

He said the association are looking at investing the money into an all-weather court and are considering running another festival next year.

Local bands Seafret, The Moonshine Music Men, Asio’s Eyes, Big Me, Half Deaf Clatch, Ben Parcell, Dog Finger, Poppy Shrimpton and Castaways played to crowds over the weekend.
