Serious Mortorcycle crash near Pocklington

A woman is in a serious condition following a crash between a motorcycle and a large dog close to the Wellington Oak pub last Thursday night.

The 49-year-old York woman, who was riding pillion on the orange Triumph Tiger motor cycle, suffered injuries to her pelvis, back and arm whilst the 50-year-old male driver who is also from York suffered minor injuries.

The motorcycle was travelling along the A1079 in the direction of Hayton when the crash occurred at around 10.30pm.

It is believed that the dog, a large Rottweiler, may have been close to the centre of the road when the motorcyclist saw it.

The driver tried to brake but unfortunately hit the animal, which sadly died as a result of the collision.

The female passenger of the motorcycle was rushed to Hull Royal Infirmary but remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact them on the non-emergency 101 number quoting log 773 of 4 October.
