Bomb disposal experts have been called to Pocklington for the second time in a week to investigate a suspected explosive device.

It is the second device to be found on West Green, where builders are currently working.

The alarm was raised at 3pm today and the road was closed off and a cordon of 100m set up around the site to protect the public.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Officers are assessing the uncovered ordnance and will make safe as soon as possible.

“Humberside Police are advising people to avoid the area until such a time as the devise has been made safe or removed.

“West Green has been closed and a cordon is in place until further notice.”

Last Thursday, what appeared to be an empty shell was found at the same site and a Royal Logistics Corps Bomb Disposal team established that the object was a ‘dud’ and took it with them.
