A Pocklington man has set himself the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as a way of raising at least £4,000 for the MS Society.

Brian Watkins is raising funds for the MS Society because his father had multiple sclerosis for more than 30 years.

Brian, 60, is planning his ascent over five days later this month. The journey to the mountain’s summit in Tanzania, just short of 20,000 feet, will see him trekking and climbing a distance of around 50 miles.

Full story in this Thursday’s paper (9 January).
