New shop and a new era for local business

Last week marked exciting times for one local business, as it made the move to bigger premises in Pocklington.
Grandad’s Shed, which specialises in making unique furniture to customers’ specifications, moved to the shop on Market Place last week.
The business, which has relocated from a smaller shop in Market Weighton, has since employed an extra member of staff as it expands to offer a wider selection of furniture over two floors.
Vicki Kress, from Grandad’s Shed, said: “The business has been going 20 years and we have another shop in Lincolnshire and, as the business is doing well, we thought it would be a great time to move to Pocklington.
“We’ve very pleased with the work we’ve done, it looks very classy. We’ve taken on a new member of staff and hopefully, in the future, we can take on even more local workers.
“We moved from Market Weighton because there’s more room here but we wanted to stay in the area because we still do a lot of our business locally, which is great.
“People coming in have told us the place looks fantastic and we’ve had lots of nice comments about the range of items we have on offer.”
